Introduction...

Primary, flowing, exploratory...are words you could use to describe my present direction of travel.  I work quickly and freely, finding abstract expression more liberating than careful representational studies.

The medium of acrylic encourages this freedom of expression.  Applied mostly with a palate knife, the colours go directly on the canvas and work into each other producing texture as well as vibrant colour relationships.

My sculpture adapts to suit the environment and my response to it.

Some work is transitory, existing on canvas for a short while, or shaped in Nature, challenging my expectations, then reworked with insight reinvested in the next application of paint, or dissolving in time back into the environment.

Whilst resisting 'labelling', I am not without higher motivations; wild environment, human form and the spirit of place matter to me.

My work is for sale, usually when exhibited, but please contact me about any particular piece or if you would like to discuss a commission.

"For the artist communication with nature remains the most essential condition.  The artist is human; himself nature; part of nature within natural space."  Paul Klee, 1923
